What We Do....
In January 2024 the "Point in Time" Count identified 200 homeless in Tom Green County. This number doesn't include the homeless that were not interviewed to receive assistance. When a homeless individual comes to Catholic Outreach Services they receive case management services to help them navigate getting out of homelessness. They are made aware of the food, clothing, bedding, toiletries, shower passes, bus tickets, cell phone assistance, and personal assistance available at COS to help them move out of homelessness.
When Catholic Outreach reopened in February 2021, 334 meals were served that month. Now we serve, on average, anywhere from 240-320 meals daily and over 5,000 meals monthly. For many of our clients the meal received at COS will be their main source of nourishment for the day.
COS has an annual budget of $280,450 for assisting clients in San Angelo and the surrounding communities. Part-time employees, board of directors, and volunteers help make the programs and services offered by COS an enormous success in helping the underprivileged in our area.

Appointments are taken weekly for offering financial assistance on a first come basis. Clients may receive up to $150 annually for rent, utilities, hotel, Greyhound bus fares, prescription and medical co-pay assistance.
Catholic Outreach Services is a member of the Homeless Coalition in San Angelo which meets monthly to discuss how to better meet the needs of our unhoused neighbors. The Homeless Coalition hosts a monthly Homeless Navigation Day on the last Tuesday of the month in the First Presbyterian gym where agencies come together to assist the homeless.
