How We Started....

Catholic Charities was organized in 1978 to help the poor and needy in San Angelo and surrounding communities. The name was changed to St. Vincent de Paul Society in 1989 and in 1996 became Catholic Outreach Services of San Angelo (COS.) The thrift store closed in November of 2018. Following reorganization and remodeling, Catholic Outreach Services reopened in February 2021. New and expanded services were added to include noon meals to-go,  food pantry, Shephard's Closet for food, clothing, toiletries, bedding, sleeping bags, tents, backpacks, and other basic necessities. Financial assistance is given for rent, utilities, hotel, gas, bus fares, prescriptions, and city bus tickets. San Angelo Diocesan programs are available on-site at COS  for Pro-life Ministries, Immigrations Services, and Criminal Justice Services. The majority of Catholic Outreach Services' financial aid comes from individual donors with the support of the 6 local Catholic parishes. We could not serve our homeless and financially disadvantaged neighbors without the generous support of individuals and our local churches. Thank you for your prayers and support.
